In the early morning hours of July 25, 1988, police in Washington, North Carolina responded to a 911 call at the home of the Von Stein family. When they arrived at the home, they found Lieth and Bonnie Von Stein brutally attacked. Leith Von Stein was a successful businessman in the area, and when police started looking more into his family, what they discovered was horrific.
