December Patreon Audio: The Bain Family Murders
Robin, Margaret, Laniet, Arawa, and Stephen Bain were all shot to death in their family home in Dunedin, New Zealand in June 1994. Just four days after the murders, an arrest was made and the only surviving family member, David Bain, was eventually convicted of the murders. There was forensic evidence that could point to his guilt, but his main defense was not allowed in trial. Over a decade later, David’s legal team brought his case to the Privy Council and new discoveries about that same forensic evidence helped bring his case to retrial. To this day, the Bain Family Murders is one of the most divisive cases in New Zealand and many still question David’s guilt…or innocence.
