Episode 382: The Murder of Lizzi Marriott
Elizabeth “Lizzi” Marriott was just starting to pursue her dream of studying marine biology at the University of New Hampshire in October 2012 when she went over to watch a movie with a friend, Kat McDonough, and was never seen again. Kat lived with her boyfriend who was over a decade older than her. Upon questioning, Seth Mazzaglia admitted that Lizzi had died by accident and they had disposed of her body… but at his trial, the truth came out. Lizzi was “like a ray of sunshine” and cared deeply for animals and others.
In Lizzi’s memory, her family started the Lizzi Marriott Intrepid Ocean Explorer Scholarship which is awarded each year to one or more individuals who quote demonstrate the desire to carry out Lizzi Marriott’s mission to “become a prominent figure in protecting our oceans and to help others learn the wonders of our surrounding waters”.
